Chosun University Receives Positive Response for 'Non-Face-to-Face Counseling' to Alleviate COVID-19 Anxiety
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University (President Min Young-don) is receiving great responses from students for its non-face-to-face counseling program that supports alleviating the anxiety of enrolled students caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Chosun University on the 6th, the One-Stop Student Counseling Center has been providing non-face-to-face psychological tests and psychological counseling for enrolled students since the 30th of last month.
The non-face-to-face counseling program was established to resolve issues such as anxiety, stress, and maladjustment felt by enrolled students due to disrupted social relationships and university life caused by COVID-19.
The One-Stop Student Counseling Center's non-face-to-face psychological counseling has received positive responses from students, with over 100 counseling sessions conducted in just over a week.
In addition, the One-Stop Student Counseling Center has posted 'COVID-19 Overcoming Mind Care Tips' on the Chosun University website, providing guidance on 'mind care methods' that students can apply on their own.
The center offers a paid meditation app (Ma-eum Bogi) operated by meditation experts free of charge for one month to applicants to promote the mental and physical stability of enrolled students.
Also, the One-Stop Student Counseling Center supports non-face-to-face counseling programs related to the lifelong guidance professor system.
Lifelong guidance professors utilize the 'Freshman Seminar' course to conduct online psychological tests (personality and career) and support intensive non-face-to-face counseling for freshmen during the online lecture period.
Recently, a KakaoPage was also launched to continuously inform students about simple mental health tests and non-face-to-face counseling programs.

President Min Young-don said, “With the delay of the semester start and the extension of online lectures, it is expected that freshmen will especially experience significant psychological anxiety due to disrupted social relationships and university life. We expect that by checking students' psychological stability through non-face-to-face counseling, we can prevent issues such as academic dropout that may occur midway.”
