KOSPI Ends Over 3% Higher with Institutional Net Buying of 1 Trillion Won... KOSDAQ Rises Over 4%
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The KOSPI closed with a gain of over 3% as institutional investors net bought more than 1 trillion won. The KOSDAQ index also rose more than 4%, continuing its upward trend for the third consecutive trading day. However, the recovery of the 600-point level was postponed to the next opportunity.
On the 6th, the KOSPI closed at 1791.88, up 66.44 points (3.85%) from the previous day. The KOSPI, which started the day with gains, increased its rise from around 2% in the morning to nearly 4% by the end of the session.
Looking at trading trends by participant, institutional investors led the index rise with net purchases of 1.0385 trillion won. In contrast, individual and foreign investors net sold 844.8 billion won and 197.3 billion won, respectively.
By sector, telecommunications (5.74%), paper and wood (5.24%), distribution (4.92%), securities (4.76%), and food and beverages (4.68%) rose.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks rose. Celltrion (6.63%) and LG Household & Health Care (5.07%) surged more than 5%, while NCSoft (4.79%), SK Hynix (4.40%), SK Telecom (4.10%), and Samsung SDI (3.67%) also increased.
In the KOSPI market that day, 842 stocks rose, including 5 stocks that hit the upper price limit, while 48 stocks fell with no stocks hitting the lower price limit. Fourteen stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ index also showed strong gains of over 4%. The KOSDAQ, which started the day higher, steadily pushed the index up during the session and closed at 597.21, up 24.20 points (4.22%) from the previous trading day.
By trading participant, foreign and institutional investors net bought 116.2 billion won and 59 billion won, respectively. Meanwhile, individual investors net sold 157.2 billion won.
By sector, food and tobacco (6.24%), chemicals (6.23%), semiconductors (5.90%), medical and precision instruments (5.78%), and finance (5.38%) rose.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks in the KOSDAQ market also rose. Komipharm (7.03%) and SK Materials (5.65%) surged more than 5%, while HL Biopharma (4.55%), CJ ENM (4.26%), Genexine (3.97%), and EcoPro BM (3.37%) also increased.
