Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Implements Support Policy for Online School Opening Preparation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Jang Hwikuk) announced on the 6th that it will implement a large number of field-customized support policies to minimize confusion and difficulties in the education field due to the online school opening starting on the 9th.
First, it will promote proactive educational administrative services that immediately provide necessary supplies and information for online classes to students and parents.
The Office of Education will provide elementary school students with learning preparation materials in the form of a ‘package’ that can be used for online learning at home. Various learning preparation materials mainly used in classroom lessons will be expanded to include items necessary for online classes.
Instead of shared supplies, items such as colored pencils, drawing paper, and learning textbooks will be purchased and distributed individually to each student.
The composition of the ‘learning package’ will be autonomously decided by each school according to the situation, and any excess cost beyond the pre-allocated budget of 30,000 KRW per student will be fully reimbursed by the Office of Education.
Starting this week, the Office of Education will provide a budget of 200,000 KRW per class for the purchase of information devices to support online classes. When schools purchase information devices, the Office of Education plans to support the school field through proactive administration by reimbursing the purchase budget later.
Along with this, a Q&A booklet titled ‘Remote Classes You Can Grasp’ related to the unprecedented online learning process was created as a web file and distributed to schools and all institutions.
It was also produced as a video and uploaded on the Office of Education and all school websites. The booklet was created to address questions from students and parents about remote class methods and tips, academic operations by school level, and Office of Education support projects.
