The line dance class, a representative community sports program of Seodaemun-gu since 2017, has gained great popularity as it allows people of all ages and genders to enjoy and improve their health together with friends, family, and neighbors.
It was held at 13 locations within the district, including elementary school playgrounds, but due to the recent COVID-19 situation preventing in-person classes, the district prepared online courses to continuously provide opportunities for residents to participate in community sports.
The "Online Line Dance Class" is filmed at the large auditorium on the 6th floor of Seodaemun-gu Office and is broadcast live every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. for one hour via Naver Band.
Even after the live class ends, video files are uploaded so participants can practice anytime they want by watching the videos.
Those wishing to participate can apply by phone to the Culture and Sports Division of Seodaemun-gu Office and will receive a text message inviting them to the corresponding Band group.
Seodaemun-gu also plans to upload these line dance video files on the "District Office YouTube Channel" to promote the "Harmony Line Dance Class" and enable more residents to use it. Once the COVID-19 situation improves, the program will return to in-person classes.
Additionally, to create an environment for physical activity without face-to-face contact, the district plans to operate online courses such as "Our Neighborhood Park Trainer," which teaches how to exercise using equipment along Hongjecheon Stream, and the "Seodaemun-gu Children's Soccer Class."
