[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 5th, the 19th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was reported at the U.S. Forces Korea Pyeongtaek Base (Camp Humphreys).
The U.S. Forces Korea Command announced that a U.S. military construction worker working at Camp Humphreys tested positive for COVID-19 today. He is a U.S. citizen and was last known to have visited Camp Humphreys on the 1st. He had been quarantined at his off-base accommodation after contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and U.S. Forces Korea medical staff, since the new confirmed patient has not had contact with others since the 1st, they judged that contact tracing and on-base disinfection were unnecessary.
