Daegu Area CU Franchise Owners Donate All Lunchbox Profits to Support Medical Staff
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CU announced on the 5th that CU franchise owners in the Daegu area will donate all the proceeds from lunchbox sales during the month of April to medical staff and volunteers who are working hard to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Recently, as the floating population in the Daegu area has significantly decreased due to COVID-19, stores in the area are also experiencing unprecedented difficulties. Despite this, they have united their efforts to support workers dedicated to quarantine tasks and patient care.
This donation campaign was planned after BGF Retail Daegu Sales Department employees and franchise owners discussed ideas to contribute to the local community, and more than 50 franchise owners in the Daegu area willingly expressed their intention to participate.
Following the announcement of this news, BGF Retail decided to support the campaign through a matching grant method, providing an amount equal to the franchise stores' accumulated monthly donations. The BGF Group employee volunteer organization is also participating by donating goods.
The donations collected over the month through this collective effort will be used to purchase medical devices and quarantine tools for medical staff, volunteers, and other frontline workers responding to COVID-19 in the Daegu area.
Meanwhile, BGF Retail has been sharing the difficulties of franchise stores by being the first in the industry to prepare support measures, such as covering all quarantine costs for stores visited by confirmed patients and fully supporting losses from discarded convenience foods due to store closures.
