Seoul Jung-gu Deploys 100 Dedicated Staff for Overseas Arrivals' Self-Quarantine Marking
Installation of 'Overseas Arrival Self-Quarantine Task Force' in Jung-gu Office 7th Floor Auditorium... 50 District Employees and 50 Jung-gu Facilities Management Corporation Staff Join for Thorough One-on-One Monitoring
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Seoyangho) has established a 'Dedicated Team for Overseas Entrants under Self-Quarantine' in the 7th-floor auditorium of Jung-gu Office to systematically manage overseas entrants under self-quarantine.
The dedicated team consists of a total of 100 members, with 50 district office employees and 50 employees from the Jung-gu Facilities Management Corporation joining forces.
Since the start of mandatory self-quarantine for all overseas entrants on April 1, the number of self-quarantined individuals managed by Jung-gu increased by 70 in one day as of April 1, reaching a total of 265 people. Most of the increased self-quarantined individuals are overseas entrants.
Accordingly, the district has established a thorough one-on-one monitoring response system to prevent the increase of incoming overseas entrants and frequent cases of self-quarantine violations.
Dedicated team staff will verify accurate information about overseas entrants and monitor in real-time whether self-quarantined individuals leave their quarantine locations and their health status.
Overseas entrants are required to install the 'Self-Quarantine Safety Protection App' and perform self-diagnosis twice daily by checking symptoms such as fever and cough.
The dedicated team uses this 'Safety Protection App' to check self-diagnosis twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, and immediately connects individuals showing abnormal symptoms to the health center's screening clinic.
They also frequently check for quarantine location breaches through GPS tracking, and if a breach is detected, they promptly contact the individual and take immediate action. If contact is lost or the quarantine location is left without permission, the team plans to actively respond in cooperation with the police station.
Seoyangho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "We will thoroughly provide one-on-one dedicated monitoring of self-quarantined individuals to alleviate residents' anxiety caused by the overseas inflow of COVID-19 and prevent violations. Furthermore, I hope the staff involved in self-quarantine monitoring will carry out their duties diligently with a sense of mission to protect the residents."
The district began proactive management of overseas entrants ahead of the April 1 announcement mandating self-quarantine for all overseas entrants.
Anticipating overseas entrants who might stay at lodging facilities voluntarily self-quarantining, a full survey of local tourist accommodations and foreign tourist city guesthouses was conducted on March 28-29. They checked whether guests with overseas travel history within 14 days were staying, monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms, and inspected compliance with quarantine rules.

Additionally, overseas entrants entering Jung-gu are transported safely by district office vehicles from the airport via dedicated buses to the Jung-gu Health Center for medical examination and then to their quarantine locations. Those using private vehicles are also separately notified and guided to receive medical examination immediately upon arrival at the health center.
