Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has launched the spring-themed "Jungnang Flower Road Creation Project," focusing on the district office building and major parks.
This project involves planting a variety of distinctive seasonal flowers in major street flower beds and green spaces in Jungnang-gu to create a beautiful streetscape.
Starting from the district office building, in early April, mobile flower pots and flower beds will be planted in 16 neighborhoods, followed by the installation of railing-hanging and streetlight-hanging flower pots along major arterial roads such as Mangu-ro and Dongil-ro in early May.
Additionally, the Jungnangcheon walking trail will be newly decorated with spring flowers, planting a total of about 70,000 plants.
The "Jungnang Flower Road Creation Project" will continue throughout the year, planting and continuously maintaining over 30 kinds of colorful seasonal flowers such as pansies, violas, portulacas, marigolds, and ornamental cabbages across the district from spring to winter, making Jungnang-gu's streets even more beautiful.
This will not only enliven the streets of Jungnang-gu but also is expected to cultivate the aesthetic emotions of the residents. Amid the socially depressed atmosphere due to COVID-19 these days, a resident who visited the district office said, "Seeing the pretty flowers planted in the pots, I was able to forget my worries and anxieties for a moment and smile," showing satisfaction.
Jungnang-gu also promotes the "Tree Caretaker Project," where residents directly adopt and autonomously manage street trees and green spaces. Tree caretakers receive recognition for volunteer activities, distribution of management supplies, and installation of information boards.
Applications are accepted year-round for individuals and groups, and residents who wish to participate can inquire by phone at the Jungnang-gu Office Parks and Greenery Division to receive guidance on the application process.
