Democratic Party Gwangju Branch 'May 18 Democratic Cemetery Visit' Candidate Departure Ceremony

All candidates running in Gwangju, including Song Gap-seok, Lee Hyung-seok, Min Hyung-bae, Lee Byung-hoon, Lee Yong-bin, Yang Hyang-ja, Yoon Young-duk, and Cho Oh-seop, attended the launch ceremony and read the ‘Declaration of Candidacy.’
Chairman Song Gap-seok introduced the candidates and declared, “Our eight candidates begin the 13-day election campaign for the 21st general election here, a symbol of the Gwangju spirit that honors the May spirits.”
Through the declaration read in turn, the candidates stated, “We will complete the reform tasks of the Moon Jae-in administration with the Gwangju spirit, and we will definitely win to lead the development of Korean politics and Gwangju.” They also pledged, “We will support the activities of the Truth Investigation Committee to clarify the truth so that the value of the May 18 event, which marks its 40th anniversary, is not damaged or distorted, and promote the inclusion of the May 18 spirit in the preamble of the Constitution and the adoption of the official national report.”
They continued, “Together with the great citizens of Gwangju who practiced the spirit of sharing and solidarity even in national crises, we will surely win the fight against COVID-19,” and promised, “We will protect the people by expanding public healthcare and social safety nets and preparing support measures to overcome the economic crisis through the second supplementary budget.”
They added, “We will promote future policies that enrich citizens’ lives and recreate the administration to surely repay the grace of the citizens of Gwangju.”
