Gwangju City Extends Additional Reduction in City Bus Operations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 2nd that it will extend the reduction of city bus operations until school start time in accordance with the new semester online school opening for elementary, middle, and high schools.
The city has extended the reduction of city bus operations three times since last month to prevent community transmission of COVID-19.
The government has postponed the school opening to the 9th and is promoting a phased online school opening as face-to-face classes are impossible due to COVID-19, but the start date for in-person attendance is still undecided.

Last month, the average daily number of city bus passengers in Gwangju decreased by 46.4% compared to the previous year (459,979 in 2019, 246,521 in 2020), and the number of buses in operation on weekdays is 878.
