Both sides shared assessments of the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula and discussed bilateral cooperation measures to achieve substantial progress toward the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of lasting peace.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "The two chief representatives evaluated that the Republic of Korea and the United States are closely cooperating on North Korea and nuclear issues while actively working to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and agreed to continue close communication and consultations at all levels."
