[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) will live stream the full bloom of cherry blossoms along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park, famous for its beautiful spring flower paths in Seoul, online on the 3rd using moving cameras and drones.
As major cherry blossom paths in Seoul, such as Yunjungno, were completely closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district actively participated in practicing 'social distancing' and planned an online 'virtual cherry blossom tour' to support the psychological stability of residents who have become anxious and lethargic due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
The live broadcast will be held for one hour from 2 PM to 3 PM on April 3rd and can be viewed on the Mapo-gu YouTube channel (MapoTV) and Mapo-gu Facebook. It will be a dual live broadcast connecting the MapoTV announcer in the studio with the on-site camera, allowing viewers to enjoy a walk and the cherry blossoms together.
The 'virtual cherry blossom tour' is a participant-centered concept video created through real-time interaction with viewers via the comment section, rather than a one-way video presentation.
To this end, cameras will be positioned on the ground and above the cherry blossom trees, and when viewers request desired scenes through real-time comments, the cameras will act as the viewers' avatars and show those scenes.
Additionally, moving cameras and drones will be used to capture vivid and three-dimensional cherry blossom footage.
A district official said that depending on the response to the newly attempted 'virtual cherry blossom tour,' they plan to develop new programs themed around enjoying trips from home, such as exploring Mapo's hidden cherry blossom spots, and asked for active interest and participation from residents.
