View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 1st, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a video conference with heads of diplomatic missions in the Africa region to review the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and movement restrictions in Africa, and to discuss measures to protect overseas Koreans.
The meeting was attended by five key heads of missions including the Ambassador to South Africa, Ambassador to Morocco, Ambassador to Senegal, Ambassador to Kenya, and Ambassador to C?te d'Ivoire in the Africa region, as well as officials from relevant departments of the headquarters related to COVID-19 response.
The attending heads of missions reported on the status of COVID-19 spread in their jurisdictions, related entry and exit restrictions, and lockdown measures, and focused on difficulties encountered in protecting overseas Koreans and supporting their return, as well as future response plans.

In response, Minister Kang said, "As the government is making every effort to respond to COVID-19 with the safety of our citizens as the top priority, I ask that overseas missions also actively work to minimize inconvenience and damage to our citizens by closely communicating with host country governments."
