Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Conducts Sand Disinfection at Local Urban Park Playgrounds
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 1st that it will disinfect the sand in 72 sand playgrounds within urban parks to ensure the safety of children who are vulnerable to harmful substances such as bacteria.
This sand disinfection by Gwangsan-gu involves turning over the compacted sand to restore its elasticity, removing impurities such as glass and excrement, and sterilizing and disinfecting bacteria and parasites using high-temperature steam disinfection equipment.
Additionally, safety will be confirmed by requesting parasite and egg inspections from specialized institutions.
