View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jonghyo] On the 31st, Nam-gu, Busan announced that on the 30th, it installed a bidirectional consultation booth capable of converting between negative and positive pressure at the screening clinic in front of Nam-gu Public Health Center.
The bidirectional consultation booth, developed through a collaboration between Ahn Yeohyun, Medical Officer at Nam-gu Public Health Center, and Goryeo Giyeon, is usually used in negative pressure mode for small-scale indoor testing where patients enter the booth, and in positive pressure mode for outdoor testing during mass infections, allowing medical staff to enter the booth to conduct tests.
In cases requiring large-scale testing such as mass infection outbreaks or testing all overseas arrivals, a walking-through testing format is conducted. In this case, medical staff wearing protective suits for extended periods experience increased fatigue and are easily exposed to infection risks.
The bidirectional consultation booth applies top-level glove box technology to provide a sealed function equivalent to protective suits needed on-site, allowing medical staff inside the booth to avoid wearing protective suits, thus ensuring both safety and efficiency.
Additionally, natural ventilation is possible, so no separate ventilation time is required, and the open space reduces the possibility of infection through contact surfaces, enabling rapid and safe specimen collection for large numbers of people.

A Nam-gu Office official stated, "Since gloves are thoroughly disinfected before testing the next patient for safe testing, the possibility of patient infection is reduced, and it is expected to be usefully applied at airports or open screening clinics."
