Dongdaemun College Counseling Center Online Admission Class Reaches 300 Views in 2 Hours... Providing Online Admission Materials for Anxious Parents Due to School Opening Delay and Orientation Cancellation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Due to the impact of COVID-19, the start of the school term has been postponed, and social distancing measures inside and outside schools have led to the suspension of academy classes and various briefing sessions, causing increasing concern among parents about their children's learning gaps.
In particular, parents of high school seniors (Grade 12) are worried about changes in the college entrance schedule but feel frustrated as there are no clear solutions.
Dongdaemun District Office (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) has stepped up to alleviate these parents' anxieties. The Dongdaemun College Counseling Center, which used to hold the parent-targeted college entrance information education program "Parent College Preparation Class" monthly on-site at the Dongdaemun District Office, has decided to offer it online.
This online lecture will be conducted by Baek Seung-han, Director of the Dongdaemun College Counseling Center (Deputy Director of Uway Education Evaluation Research Institute), providing detailed and diverse information on △ changes in the academic calendar due to COVID-19 △ characteristics of the 2021 college entrance exam △ strategies for regular and early admission applications.
The lecture is available to anyone through the Dongdaemun College Counseling Center website (www.ddmjinhak.co.kr).
Additionally, to assist viewers while watching the lecture video, the material titled “Characteristics and Application Strategies for the 2021 College Entrance Exam” has been posted on the website.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, stated, “The 'Parent College Preparation Class' video we prepared surpassed 300 views within two hours of being posted on the website, which is evidence that many parents are worried about learning gaps caused by COVID-19. We will continue to provide videos considering the situation and contribute to reducing private education expenses and increasing college admission rates by offering customized college entrance information through the Dongdaemun College Counseling Center in various ways.”
The Dongdaemun College Counseling Center is a facility jointly operated by Dongdaemun District and the entrance exam specialist company Uway to provide college entrance information to residents. It offers free programs including entrance exam information education for parents, one-on-one entrance consulting for examinees, and mock interviews.
