"Washing Winter Blankets for Severely Disabled and Elderly Living Alone"
Seoul City Operates One-Stop Mobile Blanket Laundry Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 13th that it will operate a 'One-Stop Mobile Blanket Laundry Service' to assist severely disabled people with mobility difficulties and elderly people living alone with household chores and to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Using a large vehicle dedicated to the blanket laundry service, the service collects old winter blankets from apartment complexes and disability welfare centers in 25 autonomous districts, washes them, and then delivers them back.
This service can be applied for by the individual or neighbors by contacting the operating organization, the Seoul Southern Disabled Welfare Center (02-829-7145), or the disability welfare center, home care support center, or district community service center in their residential district. Alternatively, related organizations such as disability welfare centers can collaborate to identify eligible recipients and request the service directly.
The city plans to actively promote the service through community service centers and senior welfare centers to ensure that severely disabled people and elderly people living alone in vulnerable residential areas such as welfare facilities, public rental apartments, jjokbangchon (small rooms villages), and gosiwon (boarding houses) are not excluded from the service.
Additionally, this year, along with the blanket laundry service, new blankets will be provided to recipients who require emergency support.
