Support for National Merit Recipients Affected by COVID-19 Begins
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has decided to operate a 'Special Mobile Support Team' to assist elderly veterans who are experiencing difficulties in daily life due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 11th, the Ministry announced that it will operate the 'Special Mobile Support Team' at 27 veterans offices nationwide and deliver hygiene products such as masks and daily necessities to elderly national merit recipients. On the 11th, they plan to visit Seoul, on the 12th, Cheonan in Chungnam, and on the 18th, Daegu.
Previously, the Ministry shifted its home welfare services, which involved visiting the homes of elderly and solitary veterans to provide support amid the spread of COVID-19, to a telecommuting system.
The Ministry formed a dedicated management team to prevent infections at six veterans nursing homes nationwide, controlling external access and urging facility workers to refrain from outside activities.
