Songpa-gu Hosts 'Youth Global Company Online Video Employment Special Lecture' to Overcome COVID-19
‘Closed’ Community Centers Also Offer Online Classes… “Enjoy Culture and Leisure at Home”
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is conducting various online programs to assist residents experiencing inconvenience due to restricted outdoor activities amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
Recently, to prevent the spread of community infections, the operation of multi-use facilities such as cultural centers and community centers has been suspended. Additionally, childcare and educational facilities have closed temporarily, school openings have been postponed, and telecommuting has increased, all of which have imposed restrictions on residents' outdoor activities.
The impact of COVID-19 has also affected the job market. Major companies have postponed their public recruitment schedules, and various employment support programs such as special lectures and job fairs, which Songpa-gu held annually to strengthen youth employment capabilities, have been disrupted.
In response, Songpa-gu is utilizing ‘online’ methods, which are free from time and location constraints and non-face-to-face, as an alternative to complement the drawbacks of offline settings where many people gather and infection risk is high, drawing attention.
The district planned a ‘Youth Global Company Online Employment Special Lecture’ to alleviate the difficulties residents face in preparing for employment. Using ‘Zoom,’ a program widely used by many companies for video conferencing, a real-time online video special lecture for young job seekers has been arranged.
In this special lecture, current employees from global companies such as AMAZON KOREA, Amore Pacific, NIKE KOREA, and DISNEY KOREA will participate as mentors to provide various employment information including company introductions, overseas job preparation, job analysis, and interview preparation. Additionally, a Q&A session will be held via video chat to allow free interaction between current employees and job seekers.
The lecture will be held on the 18th at 6 p.m. and can be attended for free from anywhere with a laptop and internet access. Those wishing to participate can apply by referring to the announcement on the Songpa-gu website.
Furthermore, the district explained that Garak 1-dong will operate the ‘Meet Our Village Songpa SSEM at Home’ service, which provides community center programs as videos online. For first-quarter students of the Garak 1-dong community center, 15 cultural and leisure course videos such as yoga, line dance, acoustic guitar, Chinese language, and paper folding will be provided on a blog to allow easy practice at home during the closure period.
Songpa-gu plans to continue adding and providing various content using online methods while monitoring the COVID-19 situation.
