Letter to International Students and Parents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Hyuk-jong, President of Gwangju University, sent a letter to the parents of new and returning students who may be anxious due to 'COVID-19'.
According to Gwangju University on the 10th, President Kim stated in the letter, "To ensure the safety of the students, we have canceled all on-campus events such as the entrance ceremony and orientation, and postponed the start of the semester by two weeks," adding, "All faculty and staff are working together to do their best to prevent and contain the spread of 'COVID-19'."
He also sent letters to international students and their parents.
President Kim said, "With Korea's world-class medical system and the active efforts of health authorities, 'COVID-19' will soon be eradicated," and added, "We are conducting intensive daily disinfection of all facilities including classrooms, dormitories, and libraries."
Finally, he emphasized the importance of preventive guidelines and communication with the school's International Education Center, promising to do his best to ensure a safe study abroad experience.
Gwangju University has established a dedicated infection prevention organization directly under the president and is operating the 'COVID-19 Emergency Response Team.' They have distributed explanatory materials on infection prevention behaviors throughout the campus and ensured that hand sanitizers, masks, contactless thermometers, and questionnaires are always available.
On the first day of the semester, masks will be distributed at the entrances of each campus building, and promotional activities regarding preventive measures will be conducted.
