Naju-si Opens Applications for 'Bitgaram Park Garden Plot Leasing' Starting the 17th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Han-hyuk Lee] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 10th that it will accept applications for the rental of 'Bitgaram Park Garden Plots' from the 17th to the 20th.
Bitgaram Park Garden Plots is an urban agriculture revitalization project aimed at promoting healthy leisure activities for citizens and enhancing communication among families and neighbors.
Previously, since 2015, the city has created and operated four garden plot sections in parks and vacant lots within Bitgaram Innovation City.
One of the attractions of the park garden plots is that families can grow and harvest various crops in cozy plots of about 3 pyeong (approximately 9.9㎡) and enjoy them at the family table.
It has received great response not only for enhancing communication among family members and neighbors but also for its educational value for children of urban residents, including public institution employees who have limited opportunities to experience agriculture.
The park garden plots offer a total of 300 plots for rent: ▲1st Garden Plot (Bitgaram-dong 536) with 180 plots ▲2nd Garden Plot (Bitgaram-dong 831) with 60 plots ▲4th Garden Plot (Bitgaram-dong 22-1) with 60 plots.
The 3rd Garden Plot (40 plots) will be used as a public experience garden where citizens and children who missed the rental opportunity can cultivate various crops together.
The rental area is about 10㎡ per plot, and one plot can be rented per household at a rental fee of 50,000 KRW.
Anyone can apply for the rental by filling out the application form posted in the announcements section on the city hall website and submitting it via email to the garden plot management organization, Four-Leaf Clover Agricultural Cooperative Corporation.
If the number of applicants exceeds the available plots, selection will be conducted by public lottery; however, family applicants involving three generations will be given priority for 18 plots.
Ten plots of the 1st Garden Plot, operated as a smart farm urban agriculture type in collaboration with KEPCO KDN, will be available for application only to those interested.
The city plans to provide seedlings and personal small farming tools such as hoes to all participants at the opening ceremony scheduled for the 18th of next month.
To facilitate smooth garden plot maintenance, the city will also provide farming tools, compost spreading, eco-friendly farming education, and community cultural events throughout the year.
The announcement of the rental selection will be posted on the city hall website and notified individually via text message.
