Jeonbuk Province Accommodates 128 COVID-19 Patients from Daegu and Gyeongbuk Regions
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 10th that it has decided to accommodate 128 confirmed COVID-19 patients under self-quarantine in the Daegu area at Gunsan, Namwon, and Jinan Medical Centers, accepting the request from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and Daegu Metropolitan City.
On the 11th, 88 COVID-19 confirmed patients from the Daegu area are scheduled to be transferred, with 67 to Gunsan Medical Center and 21 to Namwon Medical Center.
Additionally, on the 12th, 40 more patients will be transferred, with 30 to Namwon Medical Center and 10 to Jinan Medical Center, bringing the total number of Daegu COVID-19 patients moved to the province over two days to 128.
Jeonbuk Province designated three local medical centers in the province (Gunsan Medical Center, Namwon Medical Center, and Jinan Medical Center) as infectious disease specialized hospitals in preparation for a large outbreak of COVID-19, and cleared all beds by the end of last month as a preemptive measure for residents' safety.
Currently, internal construction to protect medical staff has been completed, and preparations to accommodate patients are finished.
Jeonbuk Province plans to use about 50% of the 136 rooms and 223 beds secured across the three infectious disease specialized hospitals for patients from the Daegu area, while reserving the remaining beds in case of local patient occurrences.
Gunsan and Namwon Medical Centers operate screening clinics capable of conducting COVID-19 tests and are designated as safe hospitals, continuing outpatient treatment for respiratory disease patients and general outpatient care. However, inpatient treatment will not be available for the time being.
