One More COVID-19 Case in Military, Total 35... Daegu Air Force Member
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 7th that the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) within the military has increased by one, bringing the total confirmed cases to 35.
Specifically, as of 10 a.m. on the same day, there are 19 cases in the Army, 1 in the Navy, 2 in the Marine Corps, 12 in the Air Force, and 1 in the Ministry of National Defense direct units. The previous day, the number of confirmed cases in the military was 34.
The additional confirmed case is a contract worker affiliated with the Daegu Air Force.
The military is currently isolating about 4,420 personnel to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is a decrease of about 580 people compared to the previous day. The total number of personnel isolated within the military according to health authorities' criteria?including confirmed cases, contacts of confirmed cases, symptomatic individuals, and patients seeking medical attention?is approximately 670. The number of personnel under preventive isolation according to the military's own standards is about 3,750.
Since the 10th of this month, the military has been applying strengthened criteria for preventive isolation to soldiers and civilian employees who themselves or their cohabiting family members have visited Daegu and Yeongcheon City and Cheongdo County in Gyeongbuk Province.
