Global COVID-19 Cases Near 100,000... Heading Toward a 'Pandemic'?
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has approached 100,000 worldwide.
Bloomberg reported on the 6th (local time) that there are 99,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases globally, with 3,386 deaths. Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced at a press conference the previous day that there were more than 95,700 confirmed cases and at least 3,280 deaths.
In China, the outbreak's origin, there have been 80,552 infections and 3,042 deaths, the highest numbers so far.
South Korea has 6,593 confirmed cases and 43 deaths.
Iran has reported 4,747 confirmed cases and 124 deaths.
Italy, the country with the most cases in Europe, has 3,858 infections and 148 deaths.
Japan has 1,036 infections, including 706 cruise ship passengers, and 12 deaths.
