[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Park Jong-hee, the prospective candidate for Pocheon·Gapyeong of the United Future Party, announced on the 6th that he will file an appeal against the nomination results.
Earlier, on the 4th, the United Future Party's nomination committee selected only two candidates for the Pocheon·Gapyeong primary: former Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Choi Chun-sik and Heo Cheong-hoe, a parliamentary aide for the United Future Party in Pocheon·Gapyeong.
Regarding this, he said, "Choosing to hold a primary with only the 2nd and 3rd place candidates, who lack competitiveness, over me who ranked first in various opinion polls for candidate suitability is tantamount to giving up on the election," and added, "I absolutely cannot accept this decision that goes against public sentiment."

He continued, "There was not a single explanation as to what fault I have or why I am not even allowed to participate in the primary," and said, "Along with urging the nomination committee for a transparent and fair reconsideration, if the appeal is not accepted, I will contemplate a serious decision."
