Currently, the hospital has completely suspended outpatient services and emergency room operations.
On this day, at Bundang Jesaeng Hospital, three patients, two nurses, and three nursing assistants tested positive for COVID-19. The hospital suspended outpatient care and emergency room operations starting from 12:30 AM.
A hospital official explained, "A man residing in Yatap-dong was the first to be confirmed positive, but his family members tested negative. The infections mainly occurred among patients, nurses, and nursing assistants whose movements overlapped with those of a 77-year-old female patient residing in Gwangju-si." The official added, "The 77-year-old woman is presumed to be the source of transmission within the hospital, and an epidemiological investigation is underway regarding her."
Earlier, on the 1st, the hospital conducted a COVID-19 test on a 77-year-old female cancer patient residing in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, who was admitted to the emergency room and showed pneumonia symptoms.
The patient tested positive on the 5th, and the hospital identified seven COVID-19 infections among medical staff and inpatients who had contact with her.
Among the eight confirmed cases, one patient resides in Sanghyeon-dong, Yongin-si; two nurses live in Seohyeon-dong, Seongnam, and Songjeong-dong, Icheon-si, respectively. The three nursing assistants reside in Imae-dong and Geumgwang-dong in Seongnam, and Songpa-dong in Seoul, respectively. The personal information of the remaining patient has not yet been confirmed.
The cases also include a 76-year-old man living in Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, who visited the hospital on the 3rd with pneumonia symptoms and was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 5th. After confirmation, he was transferred to Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province.
Seongnam City has set up a situation room within the hospital to identify additional contacts and is conducting disinfection operations at the hospital.
