View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 6th that it held an "Innovation Workshop for Realizing a Happy Rural Utopia" on the 5th at the Dabyeot Nature Training Center in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, together with the Korea Rural Economic Institute.
This workshop was organized to diagnose the current status of rural areas and seek business models to revitalize the rural economy, aiming to "revive rural areas" in response to population decline and the risk of local extinction due to low birth rates and aging.
At the event, Jangwon, Chairperson of the Student Recruitment Committee at Seohwa Elementary School in Hamyang-gun, gave the first presentation on the theme "Direction for Promoting Rural Utopia, Itopia (Child + Utopia)." He explained the school-centered residential and job convergence rural revitalization project recently introduced at Seohwa Elementary School. Following this, Song Miryung, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Rural Economic Institute, presented successful cases and factors of rural and fishing village development under the theme "Practical Plans for a Rural Utopia for an Inclusive Society," emphasizing the need to develop regional revitalization business models reflecting local conditions and resident demands.
Lastly, Lee Mihong, Research Fellow at the Land and Housing Research Institute, explained the current status of LH's customized rural regeneration projects under the theme "Direction for Promoting Customized Rural Regeneration and LH's Role," and presented plans to discover rural economic revitalization models such as the 6th Industry Local Food Valley and CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) linked with the region.
In the subsequent in-depth discussion, experts including Byun Changhoom, LH President; Kim Hongsang, President of the Korea Rural Economic Institute; Seo Chunsu, Mayor of Hamyang-gun; Kang Youngkwon, CEO of Edison Motors; Park Seongyong, Head of LH Balanced Development Headquarters; and Song Miryung, Research Fellow at the Korea Rural Economic Institute, exchanged opinions on sustainable rural regeneration and rural revitalization business models.
