Gyeonggi-do Steps Up to Support Strawberry Farms Struggling Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is stepping up to support local strawberry farms struggling with sales channels due to COVID-19.
The Gyeonggi Agricultural and Food Distribution Promotion Institute announced on the 6th that it will hold a "Support for Eco-friendly Strawberry Sales" event to help eco-friendly strawberry farms in the province facing difficulties in sales despite the harvest season, caused by delays in school meal services due to COVID-19.
This event will be conducted until next month, with administrative and public institutions, including the provincial government office, collectively purchasing products produced by eco-friendly strawberry farms supplying school meals within the province.
The selling price is set at 10,000 KRW per 1kg, which is 25% cheaper than the regular retail price.
Kim Chung-beom, Director of the Provincial Agricultural Policy and Maritime Affairs Bureau, explained, "We organized the eco-friendly strawberry sales support event to assist local farmers who are struggling due to the impact of COVID-19."
Previously, the province held an event to support local food agricultural products in Icheon City, where Korean nationals returning from Wuhan, China, were accommodated.
