Seodaemun-gu Provides Emergency Mask Support to Over 1,500 Pregnant Women
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) held a countermeasure meeting chaired by the mayor on the 4th to prepare an 'Emergency Mask Support Plan' amid the mask shortage caused by the spread of COVID-19.
At the meeting attended by about 10 heads of related departments, discussions were held on ▲current mask distribution status ▲remaining secured masks ▲plans for additional mask procurement ▲mask distribution criteria, and more.
At the meeting, Mayor Moon Seok-jin instructed that masks be prioritized for pregnant women who require special attention due to COVID-19.
Since March last year, the district has been distributing five masks each free of charge from the 5th through the local community centers to about 1,500 pregnant women registered at the Seodaemun-gu Public Health Center.
In addition, the district plans to re-investigate the mask distribution status, identify the remaining stock, and prioritize distribution to vulnerable groups.
Mayor Moon Seok-jin of Seodaemun-gu instructed the relevant departments to establish active distribution measures so that vulnerable elderly and disabled people, as well as pregnant women, do not have difficulties securing masks.
So far, Seodaemun-gu has distributed 110,000 masks to local medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics, welfare institutions for the elderly, children, and disabled, traditional markets with frequent contact with unspecified many people, and small business owners in alley commercial districts.
