Naju-si, Prolonged COVID-19... Strengthening Quarantine in Facilities Frequently Visited by Youth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) has stepped up disinfection and quarantine measures at facilities frequently visited by youth as the opening of elementary, middle, and high schools has been postponed due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the city on the 5th, the scope of disinfection has been expanded from previously focused multi-use facilities such as bus terminals, bus stops, train stations, and public restrooms to include PC rooms, study rooms, comic book cafes, and academy districts.
Since the first domestic COVID-19 case, a large-scale relay disinfection has been continuously conducted targeting more than 1,800 multi-use, public, and other facilities.
At four bus terminals, KTX Naju Station, 618 bus and taxi stops, 81 public restrooms, 155 public buses, 77 religious facilities, 92 welfare facilities, and 70 PC rooms, efforts are being made to establish a meticulous quarantine safety net through twice-daily self-disinfection and mobilization of health center quarantine teams.
Additionally, 770 multi-use facilities such as daycare centers, child and youth facilities, village halls, senior centers, bathhouses, and libraries have been closed since the 26th of last month, with thorough post-management in place.
The city has requested 185 local Protestant religious organizations via official letters and mail to refrain from weekend worship services and various gatherings and meetings.
Earlier, on the 27th and 28th of last month, the city forcibly closed five Shincheonji religious facilities (1 church and 4 education centers).
Furthermore, a full survey of 592 identified Shincheonji followers is underway, with daily active monitoring through phone calls or text messages to check for symptoms.
Among those surveyed, 11 individuals who showed simple suspected symptoms such as cold or fever tested negative in specimen tests.
The city is sharing real-time daily updates on COVID-19 response through official SNS channels such as Facebook, Band, and Instagram to alleviate community anxiety and encourage proactive prevention management by citizens.
