Suncheon City Holds Emergency Meeting of Integrated Defense Council for COVID-19 Response
Measures to Ensure Citizen Safety and Revitalize the Local Economy

The emergency meeting was presided over by Heo Seok, mayor of Suncheon City and chairman of the Integrated Defense Council, with heads of civil, government, military, and police organizations in the jurisdiction, as well as the presidents of the medical association and the pharmaceutical association in attendance.
At the meeting, the ‘Suncheon City COVID-19 response situation’ was shared, and in-depth discussions were held on establishing a close cooperation system and mutual support measures among related organizations, as well as cooperation and response measures by each institution, including local livelihood economy recovery measures.
Since February 3, the city has been operating the Suncheon City Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for COVID-19 response, closing public sports facilities and welfare facilities in the region, installing thermal imaging cameras at Suncheon Station, the bus terminal, and city hall, and operating a citywide disinfection day to block infection, making every effort.
Furthermore, in a situation where economic support for traditional markets and small merchants is urgently needed due to the impact of COVID-19, the city has collected various opinions and taken measures to support small business owners and revitalize the economy to respond to the economic downturn.
Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon appealed to related organizations and citizens to actively participate in preventing the spread of COVID-19, saying, “Although this is a nationwide crisis situation, I hope that heads of various institutions and organizations will cooperate so that we can prioritize securing the safety and health of citizens.”

The city requested that to prevent COVID-19, people refrain from visiting crowded places and report to the Suncheon City Health Center (749-6680) or the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center 1339 before going to the hospital if they have respiratory symptoms such as fever or cough.
