Gwangju City Announces Results of Omae Gwangju Character Selection
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced the results of the "Omae Gwangju Character Contest Excellent Work Preference Survey," conducted nationwide from the 21st of last month to the 1st of this month, on the 4th.
According to the preference survey results, Plan B, which used the character for light (光) as the design motif and expressed five attractions of Gwangju in five colors, received 3,363 votes and was selected as the Omae Gwangju character. Following closely were Plan A with 3,334 votes and Plan C with 2,362 votes.
The preference survey was conducted with a total of 9,059 participants through the city hall lobby entrance, the official website, the city's official social network services (SNS), the Omae Gwangju website, Omae Gwangju blog, Facebook, Instagram, and other official SNS channels, showing a close contest with only a 29-vote difference between the first and second place characters.
The event results can be viewed on the official Omae Gwangju social network services (SNS) such as the blog, Facebook, and Instagram. The winner will receive a prize of 3.5 million won and a certificate, while two runners-up will be awarded 500,000 won and certificates.
Gwangju City plans to hold a character naming event from the 5th to the 12th to give the new character a name. After revisions within this month, the basic form will be finalized, and by next month, 10 additional character variations will be produced.
