Gwangju City to Fully Revamp Citizen-Centered Homepage
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 4th that it will promote a complete overhaul of the city’s homepage to reflect the communication and innovation values of the 7th elected administration and to redefine the role of the representative homepage.
The city plans to newly build a mobile-based responsive homepage and integrate the websites of affiliated institutions, aiming to launch the service in October.
This full-scale overhaul is the first in nine years since 2011. Until now, only partial design and functional improvements have been made, and there has been a continuous demand for a homepage renovation that meets the higher expectations of citizens.
Reflecting these opinions, since last year, the city has established an Information Strategy Plan (ISP) for the homepage overhaul, gathered opinions from citizens and city officials, and received expert advice. The direction of the overhaul was set as a “citizen-centered, citizen-empathic homepage,” and preparations for the renovation have been underway.
Gwangju City plans to break away from the existing supplier-centered, uniform, and one-way information provision method by providing personalized customized homepage menus based on user preference analysis, building mobile-based responsive pages, enhancing integrated search functions, and designing with simplicity as a principle to prioritize information delivery and readability.
Additionally, to bridge the information gap for vulnerable groups such as the disabled and elderly and to ensure web accessibility, the entire homepage menu and content will be developed in compliance with web standards and accessibility guidelines. The English, Chinese, and Japanese versions of the homepage for foreigners will also be completely revamped based on the analysis of frequently visited menu preferences.
