Hancheon-ro, Dobong-ro, and Uidong Meeting Plaza Install Logo Projectors with Life Respect Messages...Including Contact Information for Suicide Prevention and Mind Connection Counseling Hotlines

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) installed logo projectors with life-respecting messages at three locations in the area on the 24th of last month to reduce the suicide rate and promote a culture of life appreciation.

A logo projector is a device that projects images by shining LED light onto a glass lens composed of images and text.

The logo projector screen includes phrases such as ▲I will listen when you are tired and struggling ▲We are by your side! Share your difficult feelings ▲You can protect precious life, along with suicide prevention counseling phone number (1393) and Mind Connection counseling phone number (1577-0199) for consultation during hard times.

Previously, Gangbuk-gu conducted a full survey of suicide deaths over five years from 2013 to 2017 to compile suicide rates and regional characteristics. Based on these results, equipment was installed in three high-risk areas with heavy foot traffic.

The installed locations are near the post office in Beon 3-dong, where many elderly residents live, on Hancheon-ro 105-gil, and near Suyu Intersection, a motel and lodging-dense area on Dobong-ro 77-gil.

The device also operates at Mannam Square in Ui-dong, the entrance to Bukhansan Mountain, where many accidents due to residents from other areas jumping occur.

Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “We expect the phrases on the logo projectors to play a significant role in raising awareness about life appreciation and preventing suicide,” adding, “We will continue to promote various projects to establish a culture of life respect in the local community.”
