6 More Confirmed COVID-19 Cases in Gumi, Gyeongbuk... All Shincheonji Church Members
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] On the 2nd, six additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, bringing the total to 32.
The additional confirmed cases are number 27 (50, male, Otae-dong), 28 (52, male, Hyeonggok-dong), 29 (35, female, Wonpyeong-dong), 30 (37, male, Doryang-dong), 31 (28, female, Hyeonggok-dong), and 32 (21, male, Goa-eup).
Patient number 30 is the fourth confirmed case at Samsung Electronics Gumi Plant. Patients 27 and 30 have had no respiratory or other symptoms from the beginning until now, while the other four complained of symptoms such as nasal congestion, cough, and headache. Patients 27 to 31 are members of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, and patient 32 has been confirmed as a Shincheonji trainee.
The city has conducted COVID-19 tests on 1,074 symptomatic individuals out of 1,625 Shincheonji believers so far, resulting in 19 positive and 518 negative cases. Testing is ongoing for the remaining 537 individuals.
Additionally, 551 Shincheonji believers without respiratory symptoms have been designated for self-quarantine or active monitoring and are being observed.

Meanwhile, in Gumi, the couple who are office workers, patient number 15 (56, employee of Youngjin Astec) and patient number 18 (54, female, employee of Jeongseong Textile), have been identified as Shincheonji believers. Youngjin Astec, where they work, closed its factory for disinfection and resumed operations on the 2nd, while Jeongseong Textile halted its production line for disinfection and plans to resume operations on the 3rd.
