Yoon So-ha: "'Proportional Democracy Party' Formation Means Taking Back Established Power"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] On the 2nd, Yoon So-ha, floor leader of the Justice Party, sharply criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's rumored plan to create a satellite party for proportional representation, saying, "It is no different from trying to reclaim the vested interests of 70 years of winner-takes-all politics under the pretext of the state power abuse faction."
In his speech representing non-negotiating parties at the National Assembly that day, Yoon said, "In a situation where democracy is seriously challenged by the Future Korea Party, what does it mean to fight 'injustice' with 'injustice,' as heard from some quarters calling for a 'Proportional Democratic Party'?"
He added, "If the Democratic Party responds to the reactionary forces' trickery in the same way, it will lead to a tragedy for all progressive and reform forces," and said, "What is needed now is not to trample on the hard-won political reform from the start, but the victory of all progressive and reform forces through uninterrupted political reform."
Regarding the Future Korea Party, a satellite party of the United Future Party, Yoon criticized, "What exactly is its identity? The lawmakers who moved their party affiliation here are those who voluntarily or involuntarily decided not to run in the general election, lawmakers from constituencies with low chances of winning, and those who should have been expelled long ago for their 5.18 remarks. The Future Korea Party is a place where such figures have been sorted out as if separating recyclables."
On the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Yoon emphasized, "The government must take extraordinary emergency measures to purchase 100% of the masks from producers and supply them free of charge to all citizens who want masks, so that no one has to suffer anymore to obtain masks." He also argued, "The budget for COVID-19 testing, quarantine, treatment, and support for medical staff's protective and quarantine equipment must be significantly expanded."
Yoon also proposed budget allocations for the recovery of the people's economy, including ▲support for paid leave for caregiving ▲free meal delivery support for the elderly ▲income compensation for self-employed and temporary day labor workers.
