Lee Jae-myung: "Political Gains Should Not Be Made by Exploiting COVID-19"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, issued a stern warning against forces that exploit the 'Novel Coronavirus Infection' (COVID-19) for political gain and obstruct the quarantine frontlines.
At an emergency press conference held on the 28th at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon, Governor Lee stated, "We are at war with an invisible enemy virus," and added, "Even in this time when we must unite, those who seek political gain by interfering with the quarantine frontlines, tripping us up from behind, and engaging in such political behavior are causing great pain to the people."
He further emphasized, "We must unite our strength without dividing into factions and work together with full force to overcome this crisis," and stressed, "Strong, swift, and accurate responses and preventive measures are necessary."
Governor Lee also added, "It would be appreciated if politicians and public officials respond as one body so that the people will not be disappointed."
