Police Launch Investigation into SNS 'Shincheonji Member List Distribution'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The police have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the distribution of the 'Daejeon Shincheonji Jesus Church Believers List' that was spread through social networking services (SNS).
According to the police on the 28th, a document file claiming to be a list of believers in the Daejeon area was circulated on SNS the previous day. This 168-page document contained the names, addresses, and phone numbers of about 4,600 people.
As a result, reports of damages have continued, including claims that personal information was leaked to the police or that addresses of individuals who are not Shincheonji believers were included on the list.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency immediately launched an investigation into the distribution circumstances. It was confirmed that the list differed in both format and content from the list recently submitted by Shincheonji. The Shincheonji side reportedly explained to the police that it is presumed to be an old list.
