Jungnang-gu Conducts Complete Survey of Shincheonji Members...Related Facilities Closed
Complete Survey Secures 1,332 Registered Shincheonji Followers, On-site Specimen Collection Conducted... Additional Screening Clinics with Mobile Negative Pressure Facilities Installed and Medical Staff Reinforced
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has conducted a full survey of Shincheonji church members and closed related facilities following the occurrence of cluster infections related to Shincheonji in Daegu and other areas.
With the cooperation of Seoul City, the district received a list of 1,332 registered Shincheonji church members within the area and is conducting a comprehensive survey.
To ensure thorough investigation, the district formed an investigation team of about 50 members centered on Jungnang-gu employees. Based on this survey, those who do not respond or are unreachable will be visited directly at their addresses or interviewed in person.
After training according to the manual, the investigation team will inquire by phone about contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients, visits to high-risk areas within the last 14 days, clinical symptoms, and whether they belong to high-risk groups. If symptoms appear or suspicion arises, self-quarantine will be implemented along with on-site specimen collection to accurately determine confirmation status.
Furthermore, as the number of residents visiting screening clinics due to cluster infections has increased recently, additional screening clinics equipped with mobile negative pressure facilities have been installed. With the cooperation of the Jungnang-gu Medical Association, seven doctors have been supported, and five nurses have been separately hired to strengthen the medical staff.
Also, the district is providing real-time updates on Jungnang-gu’s COVID-19 response to residents. The district is offering information on confirmed cases and self-quarantined individuals in the area, facility closures, and program suspensions through its website, SNS, and by producing and distributing 165,000 copies of the March issue of Jungnang News special feature.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu stated, “We will ensure thoroughness in this full survey and alleviate residents’ anxiety through transparent information provision,” adding, “We are making every effort, including quarantine activities, to prevent local transmission related to the spread of COVID-19.”
Jungnang-gu is also taking every measure to prevent virus spread through public-private cooperation by conducting quarantine activities with local residents such as the Saemaul Leaders Council and Residents’ Autonomy Committee.
