Candidate Lee Yong-bin explained, “COVID-19 will be overcome with the resilience of the people and national capabilities that have always prevailed through difficult times,” and said, “Policies and budgets for responding to the soon-to-be severe fine dust and disease prevention must be based on expertise that prioritizes public health, not political logic.”
He continued, “We must strengthen the public healthcare system that protects the people and establish it as a control tower encompassing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and care of public health,” emphasizing, “The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency should be elevated to the status of a Disease Control Office, with affiliated organizations such as the National Virus Research Institute, and a Disease Control Response Headquarters system should be established at the metropolitan level to strengthen disease prevention and quarantine systems suitable for the era of local decentralization.”
He also stated, “There is an urgent need for a national community primary care physician politician who can effectively handle these national issues, and a steadfast and loyal politician who will carry out party and social innovation on the path to the success of the Moon Jae-in administration and the reestablishment of the government, a politician moving toward the future is required,” adding, “If elected to the National Assembly, I will devote my efforts to alleviating the increasing public health anxieties and concerns by utilizing my expertise.”
