20 Military COVID-19 Cases Confirmed... 2 Additional Air Force Officers Infected
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 26th at 5 p.m. that there are 20 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) within the military.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, as of 5 p.m. on that day, there were 13 confirmed cases in the Army, 1 in the Navy, 5 in the Air Force, and 1 in the Marine Corps, totaling 20 cases. Earlier, as of 10 a.m. that day, there were 18 confirmed cases in the military, but 2 additional cases were confirmed.
The Ministry of National Defense explained, "The 2 additional confirmed cases are Air Force officers who are presumed to have been infected after contact with family members or others outside."
Currently, about 9,570 personnel are in quarantine. This is a slight increase from about 9,230 as of 5 p.m. the previous day. Among them, about 540 personnel are quarantined according to health authorities' criteria due to contact with confirmed cases or symptoms.
The military is currently supporting a total of about 1,130 personnel for the whole-of-government response to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Among them, about 300 are military medical personnel and about 800 are general personnel.

Considering the domestic COVID-19 situation, the military authorities are discussing with the U.S. military plans to reduce the scale of the joint exercises scheduled for early next month.
