5.9 Earthquake in Indonesian Waters Between East Timor and New Guinea Island
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] On the 26th, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred in the sea between East Timor in the Maluku region of Indonesia and New Guinea Island.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at 2:33 PM Jakarta time at a point 48 km north-northwest of Saumlaki city in Maluku Province. The depth of the epicenter was 61.2 km. No tsunami warning was issued.

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) announced the earthquake magnitude as 6.7. The epicenter was reported to be 56 km from Saumlaki, with a depth of 63 km.
