According to Jiji Press and others on the 26th, the woman tested negative for COVID-19 while aboard the Diamond Princess and disembarked on the 20th, returning to her home in Tokushima Prefecture, Shikoku region. She and her husband disembarked from the cruise ship, wore masks, and used public transportation and a private car to return home. She did not leave the house afterward.
Although she had no symptoms such as fever, she requested a COVID-19 test on the 25th, and the infection was confirmed the same day. Her husband tested negative. According to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, this is the second case of COVID-19 infection confirmed in Japan after disembarking from the Diamond Princess, following a woman residing in Tochigi Prefecture. The COVID-19 infection of the woman in her 60s residing in Tokushima Prefecture is also the first infection case in the Shikoku region.
As a result, COVID-19 infections have occurred in all major regions of Japan, including Hokkaido, Honshu, and Kyushu. On the same day, five men and women aged 20 to 70 in Hokkaido and three women aged 40 to 70 in Nagoya City tested positive for COVID-19. In Nagano Prefecture, a man in his 60s was confirmed infected with COVID-19 for the first time within the prefecture on the same day.
