China Reports 52 Additional COVID-19 Deaths and 406 New Cases (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] On the 25th, China reported 406 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 52 additional deaths in one day.
On the 26th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 406 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide. Among the 406 new cases, 401 were confirmed in Hubei Province alone. The number of deaths added in one day was 52, all patients from Hubei Province.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China to date stands at 78,064. Among them, 29,745 patients have recovered and been discharged, and 2,715 have died. Currently, 45,604 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals. Of these, 8,752 are in severe condition, so the death toll is likely to continue rising.
The number of suspected cases has been tallied at 2,491 so far. The cumulative number of close contacts is 647,406, of whom 79,108 are under medical observation.

Outside mainland China, in the Greater China region, a total of 126 confirmed cases have been reported: Hong Kong with 85 cases (18 discharged, 2 deaths), Macau with 10 cases (7 discharged), and Taiwan with 31 cases (5 discharged, 1 death).
