NongHyup Bank Introduces Korea's First Mobile Employee ID Using Decentralized ID Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] NH Nonghyup Bank announced on the 25th that on the 24th, it introduced the country's first "mobile employee ID" service applying blockchain-based decentralized ID (decentralized identity verification system) technology at the NH Digital Innovation Campus located in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Decentralized ID technology refers to an electronic identification system that manages identity verification (ID) based on blockchain technology. By utilizing this, individuals gain the right to control their personal information, and it can prevent large-scale personal data leaks caused by institutions holding personal information.
The newly introduced mobile employee ID service is the country's first commercial service applying decentralized ID technology, jointly implemented by Nonghyup Bank and SK Telecom, based on the blockchain network and decentralized ID technology provided by the "Initial DID Alliance," in which Nonghyup Bank participates. Employees can apply and issue the ID via mobile and manage access authentication and attendance, greatly enhancing convenience. Nonghyup Bank plans to expand the service to include visit reservations and simple payment functions in the future.
Additionally, Nonghyup Bank held a launch ceremony for the "Digital ID Experience Group," consisting of about 20 employees, on the same day. The experience group plans to directly test the mobile employee ID and suggest improvements.
