Jongno-gu, Gwanghwamun Enforcement Proceeded; 'Beomtu-bon' Reported to Jongno Police Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) has raised the crisis response level to "serious" following a series of COVID-19 infection cases. On the 21st, pursuant to the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act, Jongno-gu notified the Moon Jae-in Resignation National Struggle Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as Beomtu-bon) of a ban on assemblies within the Jongno-gu downtown area.
Additionally, from 6 PM on the 21st to 6 AM on the 22nd, banners announcing the assembly ban were installed at 22 locations around Gwanghwamun Square, 20 locations near the Blue House, and 20 locations in the Daehak-ro area, key sites within the district.
However, Beomtu-bon proceeded with the Gwanghwamun assembly on the 22nd. At 6 PM that day, Jongno-gu filed a complaint against Beomtu-bon with the Jongno Police Station.
The reason for the complaint is that holding a large-scale assembly involving an unspecified number of participants in the Jongno-gu downtown area, which has a high floating and elderly population, increases the possibility of infectious disease spread within the local community and poses a risk to public health and safety.
