Gyeongnam Office of Education's Emergency Measures Following COVID-19 Cases in the Province
Reduced Operation of Care and After-School Classes in Hapcheon and Jinju Areas
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education (Superintendent Park Jong-hoon) announced on the 21st that it has implemented emergency measures such as reducing the operation of after-school care and after-school classes following the occurrence of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Hapcheon and Jinju areas.
Both public and private kindergartens were instructed to reduce operations, and academies were advised to close temporarily. Additionally, all levels of schools were ordered to cancel events, restrict entry of outsiders to school facilities, and prohibit the opening of school facilities.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education will monitor the spread of COVID-19 in areas other than Hapcheon-gun and Jinju-si and take further measures accordingly. Currently, the Hapcheon Education Support Office and Jinju Education Support Office are operating emergency response teams led by the education directors and are maintaining a cooperative system with local governments and related agencies.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education sent official letters containing emergency measures to these regional education support offices. The emergency measures include informing parents about confirmed cases, requesting urgent disinfection at all school levels, reducing the operation of ongoing after-school care and after-school classes, minimizing kindergarten operations, and recommending temporary closure of academies.
However, in unavoidable situations where participation in after-school care, after-school classes, or attendance at academies is necessary, hand sanitizers and fever detectors must be provided, and personal hygiene rules such as temperature checks, wearing masks, and hand washing must be strictly followed.
