Remote Work Measures to Minimize Contact
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] It has been confirmed that Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have implemented preventive measures such as refraining from domestic and overseas business trips as the COVID-19 situation worsens.
According to related industries on the 21st, Samsung Electronics' Visual Display (VD) division reportedly sent a notice containing these details to employees via email and other means that morning.
The notice included refraining from domestic and overseas business trips, canceling group dinners and collective training sessions, and suspending shuttle bus operations between the Gumi and Suwon plants. The division also plans to minimize meetings and enforce mandatory mask-wearing during meetings.
The Device Solutions (DS) division, responsible for semiconductors, also decided to refrain from business trips to the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions and minimize meetings. Movement between the Hwaseong plant in Gyeonggi and the Onyang and Cheonan plants in Chungnam was reportedly prohibited.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics reported that suspected COVID-19 cases occurred at some plants such as Seocho and Hwaseong, leading to employees who worked in the same spaces being sent home and contacts being investigated.
On the same day, LG Electronics recommended all employees to refrain from business trips between plants. In particular, business trips to the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions are being postponed or replaced with video conferences.
Furthermore, the company is reportedly allowing employees who have visited those regions to work from home.
