Gwanak-gu Provides Infection Prevention Education at 135 Childcare and Elementary Sites
Residents' Strong Response Leads to Major Expansion of Children's Education to 135 Institutions This Year, Offering Customized Programs on Infection Prevention, Traffic Safety, and Child Sexual Abuse Awareness
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is conducting 'Visiting Safety Education' for children in local daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools to prevent safety accidents and promote early formation of safe living habits.
'Visiting Safety Education' is part of the safety projects aimed at creating a safe city without disasters and crimes in Gwanak. It was first conducted in 2015 for 35 institutions, and thanks to strong support from residents every year, the number of target institutions has been significantly expanded to 135 this year, broadening the scope of beneficiaries.
In February, the district will accept applications from institutions wishing to receive education and select 135 daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools. From March, professional safety education instructors will visit the selected institutions to conduct the education.
The education topics include recent issues such as ▲prevention guidelines for the novel coronavirus infection ▲fire ▲traffic ▲water play ▲elevator safety and other daily safety topics, as well as ▲child sexual abuse ▲safety regarding strangers, among others.
Heads of facilities wishing to receive education can choose desired topics to ensure customized education considering the children's age and level.
The lectures will be conducted in an easy and fun way, focusing on experiential learning using audiovisual materials and props suitable for children's perspectives.
Institutions wishing to participate can apply by E-mail (kkh0004@ga.go.kr) starting from the 14th, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more details, contact the Safety Management Division (☎879-5804).
