Gwanak-gu, Full Efforts to Protect Vulnerable Groups Including Elderly and Children in Response to COVID-19
Temporary Closure of Multi-Use Facilities Including Senior Centers, Welfare Centers, and Child and Youth Facilities... Ensuring Minimal Inconvenience for Vulnerable Groups with Substitute Meal Delivery and Non-Face-to-Face Counseling for Free Meal Recipients
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is making every effort to protect vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children from infectious diseases amid the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The district announced that it is actively responding to infection prevention by distributing 400 hand sanitizers and over 10,000 masks to elderly welfare facilities such as senior centers, welfare centers, nursing homes, as well as child and youth facilities including local children's centers and youth halls.
In addition, emergency disinfection has been carried out at senior centers and child and youth welfare facilities, and thorough on-site prevention activities are being ensured through the posting of preventive behavior rule posters and distribution of leaflets.
In particular, thermal imaging cameras have been installed at the entrances of Gwanak Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center and Gwanak Youth Hall, which are representative multi-use facilities in the area, one each, to immediately screen and take action on visitors suspected of having a fever, thereby preventing the spread of infectious diseases within the facilities in advance.
Furthermore, senior centers, welfare centers, senior meal centers, and child and youth facilities are temporarily closed, and alternative meals are delivered to free meal recipients who cannot receive support due to this closure, ensuring support for vulnerable groups and infection prevention are both addressed.
For 315 elderly living alone who require focused management, health status checks and life guidance are provided through a customized care service project, and welfare consultations for facilities in need have been switched to non-face-to-face consultations to minimize inconvenience to residents.
